I like this video not only because of my enormous respect for Itzhak Perlman as a person and as a musician, but also because of his important point about this proposition having the potential to hurt entire families.

As the daughter of a gay man, I can attest personally to what it feels like to turn on the news and hear your family being called a “threat to civilization.” It does hurt. My heart goes out to any kids in California right now who are being told that their same-sex parents are responsible for California wildfires or, even worse, that their parents don’t love them. Nobody has the right to dictate to you who you can consider to be your family.
