This week’s soundtrack was going to consist of Felix Mendelssohn’s two string quintets (for two violins, two violas, and cello), No. 1 in A major and No. 2 in B-flat major, in honor of his 200th birthday last week. I really like these two works a lot–especially No. 2–yet seldom see them programmed. (It seems that when an ensemble of this configuration assembles, they prefer the Mozart or Brahms quintets.)
However, iLike’s classical music selection is sparse, to say the least. I’m looking for a new way of embedding playlists that will allow for more diverse musical selections.
Anyway, instead, I offer an extremely random yet colorful playlist (with extra green). But you can also find the Mendelssohn on Naxos and iTunes.
